My favorite brand of hummus is Sabra Roasted Pine Nut Hummus. It is creamy, zesty, and plain old delicious. It is so good, it hardly lasts for a few days between Alexzander and I.
The cost of the ingredients to make this hummus is a mere fraction of the cost of a 10oz. tub of Sabra, so I've been experimenting with recipes at home.
Here is how I made it:
1. I soaked 2 cups of dried organic garbanzo beans over night.
2. Next day, I cooked the beans on low for ~45 mins.
3. I put the beans in the blender with 2 Tbsp organix tahini, 1tbsp organic brown rice baby cereal, and 1/2 cup water.
4. I blended the mixture until smooth, adding about 1/4 cup extra water to desired consistency.
5. Season to your tastes. I used kelp and garlic powder.
Yum!
Do you make your own hummus? What flavors do you use?
